What is Free Roam VR?Free roam VR is exactly how it sounds. It is the act of physically moving around in a game uninhibited by gear or wires. As though you are actually in the space of the game. This is also referred to as arena-scale VR. Locomotion is done naturally without using a joystick or controller for movement. We utilize gaming zones that are 20’ x 17’.
-
Do I need prior experience with virtual reality to participate? Not at all! Our VR worlds have something for everyone—gamers and non-gamers alike. Designed for accessibility and enjoyment, our experiences are intuitive, making it easy for anyone to jump in. Is there an age limit for using VR?Please, consider your own child's abilities before making a reservation! We have several fun, family-friendly games available in virtual reality and we will always work with you to ensure games are age-appropriate before the play time begins. We are ready to accommodate children who are at least 8 years old as long as they meet the mental and physical requirements to operate the headsets on their own and have the ability to follow basic rules that ensure the safety of themselves, other players, and the equipment. This means young players should be able to read, listen to directions and maneuver through games independently. Children with heads that are too small to fit in the headsets or hands too small to fit around the controllers, unfortunately, are not large enough to play. For guests under 18, a parent or guardian must sign a minor waiver form.
-

-
What should I wear? This is an active experience, so we suggest wearing clothing that allows for free movement. Light, comfortable attire and closed-toe shoes, such as sneakers, are recommended, though casual wear is completely acceptable.
-
Will I get motion sickness? While we can’t 100% guarantee it, most people don’t experience motion sickness in virtual reality due to free movement without lag, allowing for natural walking instead of button navigation. Motion sickness arises from a mismatch between actual and perceived motion. Due to the natural movement, your inner ear does not get triggered in the same way room scale VR can do it such as rollercoaster games or games where there is a lot of movement in-game but not in real-life.
-
What are the physical requirements for participation, including those with disabilities?Because the experience is very visual, visual impairment is a limitation. There are no weight limits for our Free Roam games. Our facility is fully wheelchair accessible and adheres to all city, state, and federal regulations, however, our Free Roam games require the ability to move freely, and our safety system cannot support wheelchair users during group play. We recommend consulting with your doctor prior to your visit if you have any serious medical conditions (such as heart issues), conditions affecting your ability to engage in physical activities (such as pregnancy), psychiatric conditions (including anxiety disorders or PTSD), or photosensitive epilepsy. All participants must sign a waiver.
-
How do players avoid collisions with each other or walls? The headsets provide exact 1-to-1 tracking so players see each other in the virtual world just as they would in real life. This prevents players from colliding or hitting each other. Just as you wouldn't walk *through* a person in real life, you will see the other players in the virtual world and will walk *around* them. If a player gets too close to the play area boundary, they'll be greeted by a virtual grid encouraging them to step back. If they go even further, the headset will turn on the passthrough cameras, taking them out of the virtual world and showing them the real world so they can see exactly how to get back into the play space. Your safety and enjoyment are our top priorities.
